The Nutshell Version of My Writing Journey

Before I say much about my writing career, I have to admit it still feels strange to call myself a writer. I wasn’t one of those people who wrote insightful poetry in kindergarten and created award-winning stories in middle school. I actually don’t remember writing much of anything when I was growing up, except one very exciting essay I created in the eighth grade comparing and contrasting apples and oranges. There was also a story I wrote in third grade about a dog and cat couple who got a divorce, but it was only memorable because it was so odd.

Fast forward a decade or so to my teaching career. As a sixth grade language arts teacher, I spent eight years trying to convince my students that “Writing is Fun!”  I’m not sure I convinced any of them, but somewhere along the way I started to believe my own message….(click for more)

Books in the Oven (not literally)

If you ask anyone in the sleepy little coastal town of Harper’s Cove, California, Lilly Landry is just an ordinary girl who serves coffee and sandwiches at the Coffee Harbor café. They all know she recently lost her mother to cancer, but no one knows about the faith crisis she’s struggled with ever since.
